Damon Tanton, MD, Medical Director

Dr. Tanton is board certified in endocrinology, diabetes, metabolism and serves as the Medical Director of Clinical Practice for the Florida Hospital Diabetes Institute and Florida Diabetes and Endocrine Center. He received his medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine and his internal medicine residency at Wright-Patterson Medical Center in Fairborn, Ohio. Following, he completed a fellowship in endocrinology at Wilford Hall Medical Center in Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.

Parkash A. Bakhtiani, MD, CCD

Dr. Bakhtiani is board certified in internal medicine and endocrinology, diabetes & metabolism. He has additional certification in the field of bone densitometry. He earned his medical degree from Chandka Medical College Larkana in Pakistan, completed an internal medicine internship and residency at the University of Nevada School of Medicine and fellowship trained in endocrinology, diabetes & metabolism at Oregon Health & Science University.

Carmina Charles, MD

Dr. Charles is board certified in internal medicine, endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism. She received her Doctor of Allopathic Medicine at Ross University in Dominica, and her internal medicine residency at Orlando Health. Following, she completed both an endocrinology and clinical nutrition fellowship at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.

Robert V. Coleman, MD, FACE

Dr. Coleman is board-certified and fellowship-trained in internal medicine and endocrinology. Specializing in diabetes management and thyroid diseases, he joins the medical team at Florida Diabetes & Endocrine Center with more than a decade of clinical and research experience.

Andrew S. Martin, MD

Andrew S. Martin, MD is board certified in diabetes, endocrinology and metabolism. He received his medical degree from the University of the West Indies. He completed his internal medicine residency and endocrinology fellowship at George Washington University in Washington, DC.

Richard E. Pratley, MD

Richard E. Pratley, MD serves as the Medical Director of Education and Research at Florida Hospital Diabetes Institute. He is also a senior scientist at the Florida Hospital /Sanford- Burnham Translational Research Institute for Metabolism and Diabetes and a professor at the Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute at Lake Nona.

Juan Carlos Varon, MD

Juan Carlos Varón, MD is a board-certified endocrinologist who provides advanced medical evaluation and treatment of diabetes, metabolism and endocrine disorders at Florida Hospital Kissimmee. He received his medical degree from the Universidad El Bosque in Colombia, and completed both his internal medicine residency and his endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism fellowship at the University of Miami- Miller School of Medicine.

Louise Owen, MD

Dr. Louise Owen is board certified in internal medicine and fellowship trained in diabetes, endocrinology and metabolism. She joined the team at Florida Diabetes and Endocrine Center, Orlando location, from Baylor College of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, Houston, a state-of-the-art facility nationally renowned for cutting edge clinical trials, technology and results.

Francisco Correa, MD, FACE

Francisco Correa, MD, FACE, is a board-certified endocrinologist and internal medicine physician with more than a decade of experience in nationally recognized hospitals and clinics. An Ivy League-educated physician who carried out his internship and residency training at the Yale School of Medicine’s Saint Raphael Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut, he also taught medicine for several years at Brown University’s medical school in Rhode Island.
